New Horizons

 
The past remains, in long shadows cast,
But dawn now brings a sunlight fresh and bold -
No need to dwell where joy and trust fell fast;
A new day calls me to its wonders untold.
Though once locked in sorrow's pale, I climb free
And ope my eyes to life's awaiting bloom -
The road ahead, once dark, I now can see
Stretches bright before me past sorrow's gloom.
With steady step and head unbowed I'll go
To meet what adventures my path may show.
