⚖️ FEATURE RELEASE: The Incentive Pendulum is live on Magi mainnet

Today the Incentive Pendulum goes live on Magi mainnet, in production, securing real funds.

The Pendulum is the engine that decides how the network's rewards are shared, and it does it automatically, in real time, with no committee votes and no manual knobs.

Here's what it is in simple terms and why it matters for HIVE and for everyone on Magi.

What it does

Magi is a crosschain liqudity network. It moves real value across chains. For that to be safe, two things have to stay in balance:

  1. Liquidity - the funds sitting in pools so people can actually swap and trade.
  2. Security - the stake that backs the network and keeps it honest.

If there's lots of liquidity but not much security behind it, the system is exposed. If there's tons of security but no liquidity, nothing can move. You want them in a healthy ratio.

The Incentive Pendulum watches that balance constantly and swings the rewards toward whichever side is running thin. Too little security? More of the rewards flow to the people providing security, pulling more in. Too little liquidity? Rewards swing toward liquidity providers. Like a pendulum, it always pulls the system back toward its healthy center, which Magi targets at 1.5× security over liquidity, a comfortable safety margin.

No governance proposal. No admin pressing buttons. Just math, settling the books every epoch.

What this means for Hive :peakd/hive:

This is the part the Hive community should pay attention to, because it's a brand-new use case for HIVE itself.

The "security" side of the pendulum isn't some abstract token. It's node-runner staked HIVE. Node operators put up HIVE as the collateral that backs the network's bridged liquidity. The system prices that staked HIVE in HBD and treats it as the bond securing real cross-chain funds.

In other words: HIVE becomes working collateral. Not just a token you hold or power up to post and vote HIVE that is actively staked to secure real BTC, ETH and DASH moving natively across chains, and earning for doing it.

And the unit everything is measured and paid in is HBD Hive's stablecoin.So both halves of the Hive economy get a real, productive job:

  • HIVE → the collateral that secures the Magi network.
  • HBD → the stable unit and base asset in all Liqudity pools, it's all priced and rewarded in.

That's genuine, on-chain utility for Hive's two native assets, driven by external, real, cross-chain activity.

What this means for Magi node runners 🛠️

If you run a Magi node, the pendulum is one of the ways how you get paid and it's designed to be fair and self-correcting.

  • Every epoch, the network settles up and pays each node operator a cut of the protocol's pool fees, in HBD, sent straight to your account.
  • Your share is sized by your bond, the staked HIVE you've put up to secure the network. More skin in the game, bigger slice.
  • When the network needs more security, the pendulum automatically raises the node side's share to reward the people stepping up. You don't have to lobby for it — the system does it for you.
  • And it rewards reliability: nodes that keep their price feeds updated and keep signing blocks earn their full share; nodes that slack off get a reduced cut. Honest, dependable operators come out ahead.

It's a clean loop: stake HIVE → secure the network → earn → the system keeps the whole thing in balance on its own.

None of this works without the people actually running the machines. Magi is secured today by 20 node operators who showed up, put up their stake, and have kept this network alive through every upgrade, every fix, and every rough night on testnet.

The bottom line

The Incentive Pendulum gives Magi a self-balancing reward engine that keeps security and liquidity in step automatically.
It turns HIVE into productive collateral, puts HBD to work as the unit of account, and pays the node runners who keep the whole thing safe.

And we are not slowing down, we will continue delivering for as long as we are able.

Magi exists to push the boundaries of what's possible on the Hive blockchain, and the Incentive Pendulum is one step on our path.
We keep choosing the harder, better way to build because Hive deserves serious technology, built seriously.

Hive belongs at the very top of cryptographic advancement. It was never built to be small, and we intend to prove that. Every release like this is us slowly claiming that ground.
