Trapped: When Man's Best Friend Becomes Your Worst Nightmare

They say one man's meat is another man's poison. Today I learned dogs fit perfectly into that saying. A source of joy for some, a source of terror for me.

Before you get lost, let me give you the deets.

There are 3 super, extra large dogs in the house where I live. At first glance I loved watching them play together and have fun. It's therapeutic to behold.

The only downside is that they are not friendly to strangers. And a stranger is exactly who I am because I just arrived.

They do not hesitate to bark loudly at the slightest glimpse of me. The admiration I had for them is all gone now. I fear them and fear for my safety.

I wished I had a picture to show. So you'd understand that I am being ganged up against.

Now I am stuck always going to beg a neighbor to place them in their cage before I can go out, or even do anything around the compound.

Today was another day entirely. Three dogs are already a thorn in my flesh, guess what? They brought another one today.

You heard me, another huge German shepherd.

How am I to cope? How do I survive?

This new one seems to have the energy of a thousand dogs inside of it. It kept running all over the place while I peeped at it like a thief from the window.

I tried to avoid an encounter with it, but there it was standing in front of me. Next thing I know, its fore limbs were on my shoulders.

I almost fell.

I stood there like a statue, my clothes ruined with paw stains and my heart beating like a drum.

Now I am at crossroads. Do I prefer the barking ones, or the overly playful one who could climb me? Help me choose.

I just want some peace and quiet. An opportunity to walk out of my house and move around when I like. Feels like I am in a prison. Instead of wardens, I have Uti, Era, the third one's name I don't remember, and the new one — Rocky.

After spending so much time indoors today, I decided to go see a friend. I dressed up, picked up my things and walked out confidently, only to be stopped by my new nemesis — the dogs.

I stood there by the gate. Seconds turned to minutes, still I moved not an inch. No one was home to come to my rescue. They just kept barking and barking and barking.

I got tired of waiting, cancelled my outing and walked back inside furious and a little sad.

What made matters worse was my friend laughing when I told her I couldn't make it because of the dogs. No one believes that those dogs don't like me. They all think I am paranoid and keep saying I should toughen up.

Maybe one of these days I will, but each time I hear about how they bit a lady who came visiting. My fear triples. In fact, it quadruples!

I am running a campaign to.... Part of me wants them caged all day, another part remembers how much I love dogs. What's a girl to do?
