Horseshoe Bend Overlook
At noon today, we drove to Horseshoe Bend near Page, Arizona, parked in the parking lot—for a fee of 10, of course—and walked the quarter-hour trail down to the overlook, with the temperature outside at about 41°C and absolutely beautiful weather. The walk down from the parking lot went pretty smoothly, and the view was definitely worth it. If you look at the pictures, it’s truly fantastic.
The viewing platform is fenced off, so you can get right up to it safely, but there’s no fence to the left or right of it. That means if you’re brave enough, you can actually walk right up to the edge. I decided to stay back, though—that’s just not really my thing.
The walk back uphill to the parking lot is a bit challenging. Walking uphill for a quarter of an hour in blazing sunshine makes you break a sweat a little, even with the low humidity.
