Throwing in the towel
I imagine some of you could think I have thrown in the towel and abandoned Hive... 🤷♀
That wouldn't be entirely true, because no, I haven't left completely; I just needed to focus on other very important things, about which I might say a word or two on another occasion. But today, in this post, we are talking about... towels, exactly!
I think the latter is better, so let's go and see if these everyday objects want to emerge from their sleeping place and present themselves as a collection. I know they have important things to do, such as absorbing the excess water from our skin after washing our hands or having a shower/bath... they may think it is a silly idea to show themselves; however, as they would be the main protagonists in the new monthly theme in the Hive Collectors community, I think they can make this little effort and collaborate. You see, my towels have already decided to come and present themselves; I am just here to help them come to the screen for this monthly theme:

Btw, the idea of towels as a topic for a collection is not a new thing. It has been on my list for a long time, since one Hiver who is not active anymore presented them as a collection in her post. (Elbuhito, if you ever come back and see this post... thank you for the idea 😊).
So, here comes some of our towels that are volunteering for this collection... I will start with our favourite bath towels. We used to buy them several years in a row when we were on vacation in our home country and had room in our suitcases to bring them back. Unfortunately, they stopped making them after a few years… otherwise, we would still be adding new ones to our collection. They have a seashell design, and we have them in various colours. My husband has them in blue colour, my son in brown, and mine are yellow, pink, and purple. Not all of them are in these photos because we left some in Serbia, others are in the laundry, and some are in use in the bathroom.
We like them as they are made of a good material and dry really well. It doesn't matter that they are not so new anymore; they are still our favourite towels. For the hand towels, the same criteria count when deciding which are our favourite ones - to dry well, such as this one with blue birds. It also has a big sister, a bath towel with the same design.
Others have been with us since... forever, I think. Probably from our childhood, when these towels with inscriptions were popular, like this one wishing us добро јутро - good morning.
While taking the photos for this post, I remembered a set of two little hand towels with Christmas trees. I got them from my mom many years ago, and since then they have just been sitting in the closet. Once, I took a photo of them for a post about Christmas motifs. Later, I put their label back, and they went back to their sleep... until now, when I decided to give them to my son. I washed them for the first time and they are ready to be packed for their trip with my son and used by him when the time comes. (He has permission to use them before Christmas 😂)
I guess you also like towels that are made of good materials that absorb water well. It doesn't matter if they are already old ... or rather, in many cases, those older towels, made in local factories have proven to be durable for a long time. Or is it just the magic that these witches (la bruja) and mermaids (sirena) performed that makes the towels still good? 😉
Witches and mermaids, Christmas trees, birds, flowers, shells... is there anything else that can come to this collection?
Hmm, I am missing the beach towels; they are in the backpack we usually take to the beach, but there are two that are ready to come to this post. One big, thick beach towel, a great one my son got for one of his birthdays from a friend of mine.
And a reminder that the Mediterranean is here throughout the whole year... I went yesterday to the beach with my son after a loooooong time. One towel, sand and sea - some summer vibes in September before I start to work long shifts next week. Who knows, maybe I will need some towels to dry the sweat from my forehead during the lessons with these temperatures. 🌡🔥

Considering that I'm still in the Mediterranean for a few days, and that in front of my eyes is the scenography like in your last picture, sand, clear sky and sea, this topic suited me perfectly.
I will be able to display at least one of my towels in my favorite use 🙂 rolling in the sand 🙂
But I will also look for some more interesting designs on the beach 😎

And they’re so useful!!! To be honest, I absolutely love the last one, long live the Mediterranean Sea!!! The beach towels are brilliant, and the ones with nautical motifs even more so!!! Wow, I’ve got so many things on my to-do list… don’t tell me off… vinyl records, benches… towels. I think I can manage the first two… just give me a bit of time😆

I feel like an alien now seeing that there are people who has a lot of towels on their home. Though we have them, but not much haha. Actually I only have 2 bath towels and 3 hand towels which I got as a freebie on a hospital 🫠, lol. The oldies have some too but not much 😂. But instead of towels, we used old clothes even underwears as like towels , hahaha. Mommy D is the only one who thought of using them as that, I mean the underwear, hahahahaha, weird nno??. Omg.
And I forgot also about the kitchen towels hahaha, they are useful too. And the beach towels are the ones that travel with us to the nice beaches; they are so fortunate - well, just in case we can go to the beach 😂

I think it is also a case of habits and traditions of different regions. Also, it is a nice gift from older people to young ones who start their independent stage of life; at least, it is the case here :)

Some peeps think I am on top of organising my closets, but you are even more on top! Perfect lining of the - not folded but - rolled towels. So nice to see how they hug each other. I really like the one in the kitchen - I think it is kitchen, can also be bathroom, the one with the three blue colour 'print' .. gives a Delfts Blue vibe ❤️ Towels: Great topic for the month!

I started rolling in the towels and kitchen towels/clothes when we moved into this flat and I realized they fit much better and nicer into these drawers in this way. Much more organized and you see the display and pick the one you like hahaha
I also tried with the bedding, but I somehow always end up folding the sheets instead of rolling them after finishing the laundry. 🤔 Yes, there is one drawer with rolled in sheets, but those that we don't use often.

What a precious collection. 😍 Maybe that dobro jutro one isn’t the prettiest, but it’s always in first place. We all have at least one like that, some are worn out, some are torn, but they still do an excellent job of wiping things down, not to mention they can take the first layer of skin off without any trouble 😆
