Sphinx
Sphinx (Sphinx) - a winged half-woman, half-lion, who lived on a rock near Thebes. The offspring of Echidna and Typhon, according to other myths, the offspring of Orff, the sister of Cerberus, chimeras, etc. She asked passers-by an unsolvable riddle and then, having received no answer, devoured them. The riddle of the beauty of the Sphinx (“who walks on four legs in the morning, on two at noon, on three in the evening”) was solved by Oedipus (his answer: “man - in childhood, maturity and old age”); whereupon the Sphinx threw herself off the cliff in frustration.
