YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT
Today I ask you what childhood you would like your children to have and if you are giving it to them. So, without laps.
I ask you what memories you have of your childhood and what are the memories that you dream that your children have of their own childhood. What things creep into those memories? Scents that you still have impregnated on the tip of your nose, voices that sometimes you hear again in dreams, songs that you never forgot, objects that tell stories, colors that caress, looks that speak, absences that still hurt, words that echo as echoes . We all live with childhood memories, some are more within reach, others are asleep. There are those who comfort and those who hurt. We would all go back for a while to those remote years and we would change some piece of place, we would solve issues that are not yet closed or we would give hugs that we never gave. There is no way that in childhood stories there are no lights and shadows, there is no way we can go back; but it is in our hands - today, now, now - that the light of their childhoods wins over the shadows.
You do not have to be with your children all day. If you do it, you're no better than the one who goes to work all day, huh. Make no mistake. No need to eat chicken and organic eggs, maybe remember the Sunday pizzas with your hand and family. Perhaps the destination of the holidays does not matter so much, did you think that the memories of the trip, of the songs that sounded and of the sandwiches that were eaten in the car, can be what is engraved in your memory? In one of those, the way you woke him up on the day of his birthday has more weight than the gift you gave him, or the story you read at night erase the fact of not having seen you all day. Sometimes you do not need to have the fashionable cream, the one that relieves the pain, surely a hug of yours will heal it faster. What does it matter if the clothes get dirty if what counts is what made him dirty. Of that sure it is not forgotten.
The great thing about all this is that while there is life, it is never too late, we are on time. What a relief to know that, in reality, they do not need great deeds, they need little things, those that you remember from your childhood. Do not worry, you're doing well.
