History *Suetonius*

The Roman historian Suetonius reports that the emperor Augustus was a maniacally obsessed dice player. He threw four dice at the same time and was very happy when "Venus" came out, that is, when all four dice fell in different holes. He believed that this was how Venus, the goddess of love, showed him her affection.
