Immature Laughing Kookaburra

The Laughing Kookaburra is among the largest of the Kingfisher family. Their natural distribution is the eastern parts of mainland Australia. However, they have been introduced to Tasmania, parts of Western Australia and also New Zealand. They feed on anything from insects to lizards and small snakes. Their snake eating habits is the main reason why people have introduced them to other areas.

The first photo is an older shot of an adult Kookaburra. The other two shots were taken a couple of days ago and show an immature bird. The bill is shorter and it is duller with brown scalloping.
