Where Thoughts Clash - #TTT

Why are you always laughing? asked the lecherous man to the woman who had just stood up on the pedals of her bicycle. At that instant, time began to stretch, imperceptibly yet infinitely. The street, three or four blocks before reaching her home, is uneven; there is a slight descent and some small stones that, when struck by the tyre of her bike, shoot off like projectiles. The wind is a caress on her face, and the thought of arriving, stripping off everything she wears —helmet, gloves, bib shorts, jersey, socks, shoes— and stepping into the shower is one of those great rewards… he pulls her away from the pleasure of what is to come and makes her answer, though she could have chosen to remain silent… Because that is the only way I attract beautiful things into my life, she says. And deep in the cave, where the fiercest battles between her thoughts usually take place, a hoarse voice pronounces, relishing the taste of darkness: Because I do not have a gun to kill you.

Yes, we are children who have forgotten how to be so, and that is when we resignedly say: if I were a child I would do this or that… sad, isn’t it? That is why I smile when I see someone ‘finally’ daring to take the risk and fulfil their desire. Passing by so many times knowing it calls you, and for some external and unhappy reason staying with the longing… it doesn’t seem healthy to me. Curiously, we can kick away what holds us back, what doesn’t let us be ourselves, and the day becomes coloured in a thousand ways. Cheers to that.

The truth is I’ve spent a bit longer than expected here in front of the laptop… I have things to do, and I’ll probably go on a bike ride tomorrow of about 100 km or so. I should be getting my machine ready, that is, oiling it, giving it a good wash, and preparing my spare tubes. This is still unwritten, but I assure you that something from the trip (if it actually happens) will make its way here to Hive.
