NO__DAILY PROMPT 1ST JUNE

That was the first thing my mother shouted the moment she saw me reaching for the pot on the fire.

I was barely ten years old and wanted to prove that I could cook without anyone's help. In my mind, it looked so easy. I stretched my hand toward the hot pot, determined to move it.

"No!" she yelled again, rushing from the sitting room.

At that moment, I felt embarrassed. I thought she didn't trust me or believe I was capable of doing simple things. I sulked for the rest of the day.

Years later, I finally understood.

Her "No" wasn't meant to stop me from learning. It was meant to protect me from getting burned.

As we grow older, we often dislike hearing the word "no." We see it as rejection, disappointment, or someone standing in the way of our plans. But sometimes, "no" is simply another way of saying, "I'm trying to protect you."

Looking back, I'm grateful for every "no" that kept me safe, corrected my mistakes, or redirected me toward something better.

Life has taught me that not every closed door is a loss. Some doors remain closed for a reason, and sometimes the best answer we can receive is the one we least want to hear.

Now, whenever life tells me "no," I try not to see it as the end. Instead, I ask myself, "What is this 'no' trying to teach me?"
