My childhood experience on fairy tales lol#300

Good day Ladies of hive ,this is my first post here, I am new in hive as I was scrolling through I came across this wonderful community and I was luck to see this week's topic which reminded me of my childhood experience and I decided to share it with you.

In Africa especially in Nigeria, fairy tales are always about animals and what they do or say. At that time, every moon light is a night of joy filled with anticipation .

We use to sit on a Mat.

with our father while he'll tell us stories on how the tortoise played prank on the spirits ,tricked them to collect a magic drum which when he (the tortoise) beats the drum, food of different kind will come out of it.

So on the first day I set my eyes on a tortoise, we were coming back from school and I was very hungry ,thirsty and tired. As I saw it, my hope was raised. I believe that since the story tellers said it goes around with the drum as he feeds animals with it, I'll get some food from it to satisfy my hunger.

So, as the story also said that "the tortoise is an old man", I decided to be very polite to the old animal .

And I rushed to greet him in anticipation of food but it did not answer. I greeted and beg the tortoise for food until the it started crawling back into the house of the owner . When the owner came out he scolded me to get out of his compound and live the animal alone for it had no food. Even then ,I thought the man is wicked and self centered. I couldn't breathe a word of it to anyone until now. Thank you for reading.
