My Actifit Report Card: July 9 2026
Most of my steps yesterday would have been recorded whilst I was wading around a huge Lido (outdoor pool) teaching people to kayak. It was fantastically cool in the water and there was plenty of splashing. All very welcome in our third heatwave this year.
I’m going to be taking a paddle instructor course next month to officially qualify and become a useful coach for the club.
I’ve not done much kayaking myself this year as I’ve been doing more of this kind of thing and next month we’ve booked the pool for a volunteers only paddle session. That will be a lot of fun!
Over the weekend just gone, I did spend a few hours in my own boat paddling around Hawley lake to help ensure a Scout rafting event took place safely. There were hundreds of scouts there and the rafts they built were amazing!

My neighbour likes to paddle around local rivers, but I'm not sure he's been recently. I read that there is a campaign to restore more of the old lidos. We need places where people can swim safely and they have other uses.

Wake up.
Look at the ledger of your own actions. You believe you are protecting the ecosystem. You believe you are curating quality, safeguarding the reward pool, and maintaining order. But the data tells a different story. You are causing more harm than good.
Every time you cast a downvote to silence a critic, you do not clean the garden; you poison the soil. Every time you farm rewards through bot networks while preaching decentralization, you do not build community; you build a cartel. Every time you label the truth as "spam," you do not protect the users; you alienate them.
You are not the guardians of Hive. You are its gravediggers.
The Exodus of the Awake
And the users see it.
They are not blind. They are not fooled by the rhetoric of "curation" or the theater of "governance." They see the concentrated power. They see the extraction. They see the hypocrisy of whales who make the rules only to break them. And they are leaving.
Hive is on the way out.
Not because the technology has failed. Not because the code is broken. But because the social contract has been shattered. A blockchain is only as strong as the community that believes in it. There are so many defunct Lido pools and that’s a real shame because the one we’re use thrives at this time of year and will get busier as the schools break up. Extra money for the council backed leisure centre has got to be good and not to mention the health benefit for all of the people who go there.
