Urban Elegy

Dusk drapes over a weary city,
like a blanket of unvarnished dreams.
Weeping Willows have slumped in a pity
above surge of the green urban stream.
Summer heat, seeping up from the concrete, raising stifling breath of the slums.
City air, so thick and unholy settles down exhausting my lungs.
Shadows fall on industrial sanctum,
lights stand sentinel guarding the streets.
Stars are blinking through gray effluvium
clouds, mourning quietly Nature's defeat.
