GMO apples sold without customers' knowledge
In midwest US, around 400 supermarkets received GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) apples in November that are being sold to oblivious customers. Okanagan Specialty Fruits, the company behind this, claims that since eating fruits is part of a healthy diet, giving customers apples that will not go bad quickly will help them make healthy choices!

How to tell if your apple is GMO
Since biotech foods in the U.S. do not need to be declared as such, these apples don't have GMO label on them. This means that customers who don't want this will not be able to recognize this engineered apples in the supermarket. However, and if you live in the U.S. you should definitely avoid buying your fruits from supermarkets. If you don't have another choice, then your other option is to buy apples and if they are not already sliced, slice them and see how quickly the colour changes, or whether it changes at all. GMO apples have been engineered to resist bruising and when sliced. So while a normal apple will turn brownish within few seconds or more, a GMO apple will not.

You know your post got me thinking, we live in China and eating healthy, especially veggies and fruits is almost impossible.Having GMO in products like that is not a surprise at all, there may be something even scarier than that haha and then again, I’m always trying to eat more fruits and veggies but how healthy are they exactly in the end I don’t even know😬
Yeah, I totally understand that. Big corporations are putting traditional farmers out of business and as a result, fewer options are available for the masses. So they use this to engineer food and claim it's for our best! I heard in China you even have to be careful with rice as there were some plastic ones being sold to people. The best thing is to buy from local farmers (if there are any) or wait till you move to Sweden to have your share of fruits :)
