Our Aquaponic System Pt 1

IMG_2457.jpeg

We have decided to grow our own veggies and herbs, with an aquaponic system. This is our second type, as the first one went not so well, due to the lack of light.

So first we germinated our seeds in a seed-bead (from IKEA).

It took about two weeks to get little plants from it.

For the base/main box we also used one from IKEA, a simple plastic container. We bought two goldfish. It is the important part. As the fishes digest, they produce natural nutrients for the plants.

After we had the little seedlings we put them with the bog-moss to clay bullets. Container also from IKEA. We tucked in a rubber pipe, to let down the water. Hydroponic systems based on water circulation. Water from the fishes flods the clay tray, and the plants do not need concrete soil only water.

We built a light holder, that provides led light 8 hours per day. For now it is connected to a smart plug, with a timer.

We put the oxygen in a small ornament, maybe it provides fun for the fishes too.

We are not finished yet. We got a couple of sensors such as: water, humidity, light etc.. We still have to finish a code for these.

Hope You liked it! I will continue to share our system when the sensors are ready, and also show you our herbs :)
