Defeat

Life can be bittersweet
Especially with the secrets I keep
Calling you out
While my concious does criticize
My own actions to date
Numbness surrounding
My head to my feet
Swimming in sorrow
Repent
But do not repeat
Keeping my distance
From those who may see
Right through my disguise
My sunshine
My feats
Tension inside me grows stronger
Week by week
Holding me tighter
These ropes keep me weak
Nearing the end
Of a frightful sleep
My eyes they jerk open
Only to realize
My utter defeat
