So 17 hours ago, a shaky news happened, HIVE backed dollar (a so called token "backed dollar") has jumped to +242% (from 0.91 $to 3.08$ ) before dropping back to +32% at the time of writing this poll.

I don't think the dollar (real USD) has jumped of 242% right ? 🤔

So how should we interpret this move ?

Should we applaud ?

Personally, I'm not a financial advisor at all but I would say a big no and a little yes ...

No, because I think HBD (Hive Backed Dollar) needs to be renamed to something else because honestly nothing can be backed by dollar (except if you publish the accounting in real time to prove it). I think it should take the same way as all so called stable assets (LUNA, USDT, etc...)

Yes, because it boosts the global amount of HBD hodlers as you can check on Hive Engine, HBD is now more traded than all famous crypot (BTC, ETH, ...) :
