In an interview in 1998 Putin revealed that he was nearly raped by a group of gays when he was in his teens and he managed escape after he shot one of the attackers with his uncle's gun.

That is one of the reasons why Putin hates gays and banned them in Russia.

Today if you are caught being a gay in Russia you will be beaten by either vigilantes or the police.
