Many of us strive to be leaders but a lot us have not stopped to consider the consequences of being a leader, especially a leader of a large organization. People pursue leadership with all the drive and preservice but do not notice the effect this type of ambition may have on their behavior.

When some people achieve success, they allow themselves to be deformed by it. They become arrogant, intolerant and start feeling a great sense of entitlement. The sense of authority that comes with being a leader has the potential of being intoxicating. One just has to be careful and pace one’s self in order not to be consumed by the power we have been bestowed.

I read an article that struck me. The person said:

“ I found that the tools of leadership, tools we have to master to do our jobs, were also mastering me….They shape us over time more than we shape them”

Are you a leader in your workplace, examine yourself for these qualities and see if you want to be shaped by your work tools of if you would prefer it to be the other way around
