RT blocked on Hive?
Is RT blocked on Hive too?.
With the Russian invasion to Ukraine several measures have affected to the freedom of speech in the EU. One of these retaliations is the censorship of the channels RT and Sputnik.
I thought that Hive would be resilient to the censorship but guess what...

Hive claims to be a free from censorship platform, it's one of his main advantages and innovations, how we claim that if in fact this channel has been banned somehow?.
I know that there are some Hivers very critic with occidental mass media narrative. One can't fight for freedom but act like a dictator and pretend to be fair. I don't know how this is even possible, the governments shouldn't be able to censor Hive anyways so I'm looking for one explanation of this.

I think you both may be interested by these facts, maybe you were already aware of them. Is there any solution?, is this something that affects only to the people in EU or it's happening to you too?.
IMO this is very concerning.

The war started 8 days ago. Looks like its the account that decided to stop. No one is censoring anything. But mayne RT don't want to be downvoted as it should be.

I was wondering if they have just stopped to post but seems strange. Downvotes shouldn't worry them much as I don't think they're looking for an economic return of the account. But who knows, maybe you're right.
Russia today has been blocked by cloud service providers too, and been removed from google search and a host of other platforms.
Hive was never about censorship resistance, if it was, it would have been built in a way where you would run your own node but when you're trusting 3rd parties to serve the data you trusting their views on every issue to allow you to post.
Sure they will say the data is still on chain but if the front ends controlling it block you its pretty much useless
But we're claiming this all the day long when we try to promote the platform in other social media. Maybe it's the moment to make a change to make it really censorship-resistant then?.

Lol it's a nice talking point, like most blockchain products use, but they can't back it up, and because no one has to "prove it" it goes uncontested as a claim
I really thought that Hive was censorship resistant so in this sense I believed our own propaganda. It's sad to know that is just that but as you say there is a way to make it real. So let's make it, nothing is IMO more disappointing in a product than to find out that most of their virtues are just marketing.
I too believed it until I really looked at the inner workings of a chain, its a nice sentiment, the only reason things don't get removed much here is because no one bothers to submit any take down claims.
I saw how people nuked their steem accounts after the work and how they could release software hardforks to nullify certain accounts, then it pretty much proved to me that was a lie
We can't be sure that the account is really managed by RT. It could be someone else.
But looks like it is RT related and looks like part of Putins preparations for the invasion was to limit crypto activity. Putin saw crypto as a threat to his control over the trapped Russian economy.
No one stops Russians from creating their own frontend to Hive. Except maybe Putin who views blockchain as a threat to his total control.
If you spin up a front end, it doesn't mean the witnesses don't have the ablity to fork you off the chain and why would they want to have their own front end thats why they have a website.
Its like saying oh you got banned on facebook now make your own facebook
They stopped to post 4 days before the invasion, this should indicate that whoever was using this account knew what would happen after. The sanctions in the UE have been this week, so thinking it slowly this indicates that was in fact RT's official account.
Ironically it's the opposite thing and crypto should allow Russia to avoid most of the economical sanctions. Obviously nothing can replace the amount of companies leaving Russia though.

The content could still be posted on Hive but maybe the the person posting it doesn't have access to the source.
I've never been sure whether this account was official or not.
There are hundreds of front ends and you can easily access the chain info without a front end.
This is NOT RT being censored on Hive. It is the @rt-international account not posting anymore. This could be for all sorts of reasons.
This is a fair point too, a journalist of RT didn't mention Hive while providing other sources to access to their content.
Then maybe some kind of filter that each front can choose wheather to show or not
Crypto can help Russians but not Putin. Putin and the people don't share the same interests.

They haven't published anything in seven months. It's strange, I had this issue completely forgotten honestly. Apparently was an official account but who knows.
it shouldn't cost more than $50 to hire a programmer to make a crude post viewer with a search filter. open source it, bam, censorship-resistant
