Fukushima
Let´s talk about Fukushima.
The worst ever man-made disaster. Let´s ignore for the moment the stupidity of building so many nuclear reactors at sea level on the edge of the ring of fire, the earths most active geological danger zone. The accident happened and the situation is far from under control. I know virtually nothing about radioactivity or how to control it. I´d like, as a lay-man, to open up a discussion about solutions to what is very probably an ELE, or Extinction Level Event. This is no joke and no exageration. The situation is not only not under control, almost seven years after the event, but there is an extremely high probabilty that it will get worse, and maybe kill us all! Radioactivity is leaking into the Pacific Ocean in catastrofic quantities continuously, but there are other crises. The core meltdowns have essentially disappeared. They´ve burned through their containment vessels and gone to ground, but continue to burn (or react, or whatever the correct terminology would be). There is a large fuel storage tank at the top of one of the badly damaged buildings (4). Modest seismic activity or even a strong storm could bring that building down and that fuel would explode with many many orders of magnitude greater destruction than the WWII bombs that flattened two Japanese cities and virtually all of their inhabitants. The removal of the fuel rods is a process so delicate it was performed by computer, but that computer was destroyed. Errors of millimeters could cause a chain reaction immediately destroying any hope of containment of the impending uber-disaster, the follow on of the consequences of the original Fukushima disaster. The details of which cores, how many, etc don´t matter. Some people made mistakes, others were heroes and averted a worsening of the situation, by keeping fuel under water. Exposure is immediately bad! What matters is what we do now!!!
This should be a priority for everyone, especially every nation that has any nuclear industry experience (UK, USA, Brazil, France, Russia, just off the top of my head. There are many more) In seven years the Japanese at TEPCO and the Japanese authorities have failed to solve the problems, or even to discover how they will, or to secure the parts of the site still at risk of producing a worse disaster.
Thinking out side the box. People who have imagination, might have an answer that the experts have not thought of, because they are too conditioned by what they already know to think more openly.
Would anyone out there like to engage in a Think-Tank process? Especially if you know anyone who might understand the subject of radioactivity . Most ideas will be knocked down. Maybe they all will, but maybe just one is the breakthrough mankind desperately needs right now!!!
Remember, most of us can be connected to any another by six steps. Maybe you don´t know any experts in radioactivity, but maybe you know someone - who knows someone - who knows someone (... x6) who does!!!

Not a clue how to stop what is going on over there. I believe the first step would be to convince people that this is really a problem. It seems the majority of people haven't a clue about this disaster, or even worse they believe the mainstream memes that this isn't a big deal.
It is funny to me because after Chernoybl some parts of Europe were banned from selling any pasture raised animals due to the high concentrations of cesium amung other isotopes. But after this.... crickets.
I have spent a lot of time researching and trying to get the word out and no one seems to bat an eye. Thanks for your post and its good to know there are others out there.
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I´m new to Steemit, still hooked on facebook. I think with all the critical problems that mankind is facing at the moment, and they are many, Fukushima has to be the most serious. I am also researching the subject. Even understanding how to quantify radioactive exposure is complicated. If I can bring anyone with understanding of the subject into the discussion, maybe it´ll get interesting!
