Should Humanity Go Vegan?

It cannot be denied that current practices toward livestock are cruel. I would even argue that they have always been cruel from the beginning just by taking these creatures out of their natural habitat. Even if they are treated well, they're still prisoners. I'd say humanity should no longer raise animals for food, but I wouldn't say we should stop eating animals.

Death is a part of life. So is killing, sometimes at least. It is no more wrong for humans to kill and eat an animal than it is for any other animal to do so. A predator eating its prey is natural. What isn't natural, however, is raising prey to be eaten. That's not how I think it should work.

I think humanity should have the right to feast on the meats of this world, but only if we hunt our prey in the wild and if we don't over hunt. I envision a world in which humanity no longer rasies livestock, but only consumes whatever can be hunted without damaging the ecosystem. I also imagine many will want to abstain from eating meat, many more than do so today. Maybe the entirety of humanity will one day decide to go vegan, nothing wrong with that. But I think we humans, like all creatures on this planet, have a right to hunt and eat whatever seems natural to us, so long as we always respect nature and only take what is abundant.
