Greetings hivers readers and insect lovers. This week I was observing a plant that is growing in my backyard and saw a strange insect. I immediately ran for my cell phone but it was discharged, so I grabbed my son's Samsung digital camera and took several pictures.
From the characteristics of the insect, it was a grasshopper.

Grasshoppers are invertebrate, herbivorous, leaf-feeding insects. When they are very hungry they will eat other insects. When they form swarms they can devour entire plantations. They become pests in agricultural areas. When they are in herds they are called locusts and can form swarms of millions of insects that travel for miles devouring everything around them.

They can measure between 2 cm and 15 cm. Their life span is approximately 6 months.
Among the peculiarities of these insects is their auditory sense, located in the abdomen, which is said to be tympanic. This makes them perceive sound vibrations when they are in contact with things that rub against their abdomen. Another characteristic is their sense of smell, which is located in their antennae. Their taste buds are also located in this area, so before eating, they "taste" their food with their antennae. It also serves as an organ of orientation and to detect any danger that may be lurking.

They reproduce by spawning, whereby females lay approximately 200 eggs during their lifetime. There are more than 15,000 species. Males rub their legs together and emit a sound called "grillar" to attract females.

Symbolically, grasshoppers or locusts are related to destructive forces of evil, bringing disease, disaster and misfortune. In the Bible they appear as carriers of evil.
In Chinese culture it was seen as a symbol representing life, death and resurrection at the same time.
On the other hand, in ancient Greece, the grasshopper was seen as a symbolism of going forward, of trusting the inner voice, since these insects only jump forward, quickly away from problems, never backward, implying that we should not look backward, staying anchored in the past, but towards the future, towards your goals.
This means taking advantage of opportunities, making changes when necessary, not being afraid and always moving forward.

Muy llamativo este saltamonte aunque esos colores en un insecto a mi no me inspiran ninguna confianza. Creo que le tengo fobia a los insectos y con estos colores, de seguro pego la carrera. Buenas imágenes amigo, excelente.

Oye amigo @psyfire25 . En mi zona, Los Altos Mirandinos he visto saltamontes verdes, marrones y tipo camuflaje, pero nunca los he visto negros con fucsia. Es una combinación de colores hermosa. Yo casi que los tengo de mascotas porque disfrutan en mi balcón al esconderse entre las hojas de la orquídea, sábila y jade. Es una fija, yo abrir la ventana del balcón en las mañanas, conseguirme con varios escondidos de los pájaros. Son inmensos. Jajaja gracias por ese post tan interesante y las fotos espectaculares.
He visto este tipo de saltamontes por acá también y son muy pequeños. Bueno al menos los que yo he visto. También sin difíciles de capturar y ya he visto a un par de usuarios con estas fotografías así que voy a preguntar... ¿cómo lo hacen? XD Yo no he logrado acercarme a ningun insecto para fotografiarlo, siempre se espantan a la primera que me muevo...
Es un arte este tipo de fotografía en el que lograr captar a estas escurridizas criaturitas así que un aplauso por tú publicación.

saludos amigo @gaboamc2393 gracias por haber visto mi post. Este saltamontes que logré fotografiar era de unos 2 a 3 cms. Lo vi por casualidad. Ellos se camuflan muy bien. Lo que hice fu ir acercando la cámara lo mas lento posible. A mi me sorprendió que mientras le tomé las fotos se quedó tranquilo. No se sintió amenazado. Los insectos cuando sienten que algo puede ser un peligro para ellos se van, así que hay que hay hablarles y decirles que solo los vas a fotografiar, jajaja, suena chistoso pero resulta.

saludos amiga @numa26 gracias por haber leído mi post. Yo tampoco nunca había visto un saltamontes con esos colores tan vistosos. Me quede sorprendido y admirado. Lo logré fotografiar y se quedó tranquilo, como posando.
Algunas personas los tienen como mascotas y los colocan en cajas de cartón o en las de vidrio como las de los acuarios. Les colocan un piso de tierra, hojas y ramas. Los alimentan con esas mismas ramas.
En lo particular prefiero como lo haces tu, que estén libres en sus habitas naturales.

saludos @fragozar01 gracias por haber visto mi post. Estos insectos usan precisamente esos colores como mecanismo de defensa ya que tienen muchos depredadores, de esta manera intentan mantenerlos a raya.
Hay algunos insectos que son peligrosos y pienso como tu, si uno no esta seguro que tipo de insecto es mejor mantenerse a distancia.
Desde que ingresé a Hive he visto algunos post increíbles de insectos y sumado a que siempre estuve deseando tomar fotografías me he animado a ir incursionando en este apasionante mundo.

No me los imagino como mascotas. pero al parecer es lo que pretenden . Casi a diario saco cuatro a cinco de mis maticas . Tengo unas cuantas fotos de ellos escondidos . Ya escribiré algo al respecto y lo verás. Cariños amigo.
Los animales son difíciles de fotografíar porque no se quedan quietos para posar como nosotros jajaja pero he logrado tomar fotografías de algunos. El otro día me pasó algo similar con una iguana que vive en el patio de la casa. No es mascota oficial, solo un visitante que acostumbra a andar por aquí. Nunca le había tomado fotografías pero logré captarla en un par de fotografias y pude compartirla con la comunidad en un post que tengo por ahí.
