Linux Foundation Launches LF Energy project

Linux Foundation today announced LF Energy project which will be enabling Open Source platform for Renewable energy distribution.

LFE is an open source initiative, focused on the power systems’ sector, overseen and hosted at The Linux Foundation. LFE provides a neutral, collaborative environment to build the digital foundations that enable the “electrification of everything to scale” to transform the world’s relationship to energy. The digitalization of power systems enables a renewable and distributed energy future where wind, solar, batteries, and hydro provide the electrification capacity that enables humanity to address climate change, the transition to fossil-free transportation, and the urbanization of world populations

LFE is a confluence of two communities – open source developers and power systems engineers. Cross-education and cross-training is amongst LFE’s first and ultimately most important tasks.

The LF Energy Foundation will be an “umbrella” project of The Linux Foundation, in that it will support numerous separate and individual projects within the energy and electricity sectors. LF Energy is currently finalizing its processes for project proposal and submission.

LFE is currently looking for developers who are interested into contributing to the project.

You can find more information on their website.
