We Are All Actors

The whole world's a stage,
Like players, we stay in the game
Looking for fame, can't be the same.
Wondering why we live this way,
We look for a different path,
A different sidewalk, un-cracked,
Unbroken, uniform, conform.
As players we make choices,
Told our whole lives that we don't
Know what the real world is like,
Let me tell you what it's like.
People hate, people judge,
People stand up, and sit down.
We live our lives fast, living free
While wanting to die,
Let me spin this record one more time.
Tell me how the world works,
Or fails to, I don't really care so,
Let me spark a blunt and listen close,
Because all we are players, pawns
In this big game of chess,
Controlled by our overlords,
You know their names,
Apple, Microsoft, Google, and many more.
I can't tell you how many times I've felt poor,
Told I'm entitled, but felt alone,
Never known what it was that
Drove me, spurred me on.
Until now, I feel the pain of a thousand deaths,
All of this is inside my head,
A twisted place full of lost hope and disgrace,
Lost and found, I'm telling you now,
We're just players,
And they're playing us.
