From the Old Train Bridge at Dusk

Located in the Shoals Area, Alabama, USA

The train bridge is one of my favorite places to go in the area. I live here locally, and a lot of the landscape is beautiful, but taking the walk out on the bridge, over the middle of the Tennessee River (locally known as the Singing River) is an experience that is hard to top.

The train bridge’s original use was as a toll bridge for various things like wagons, livestock, and of course, trains. It dates back to 1839, and the full span remained connected across the river until 1992 when the lift span portion of the bridge was removed.
