Buddy, un encargo sentimental/ Buddy, a sentimental commission( Eng/Esp)🐕🙏

Buenos días comunidad. Les muestro mi resiente encargo titulado BUDDY.

Good morning, community. I present my recent commission titled BUDDY.

Después de años sin ver en vivo a uno de mis antiguos estudiantes, Arley V. Raya se alegró al verme y que seguía dibujando. Él había visto algunos de mis dibujos por redes sociales y me encargó dibujar a su perro. Aunque nunca había dibujado un perro, acepté porque me pidió que lo dibujara porque había fallecido y necesitaba un recuerdo artístico de él, no una foto o afiche. Quería un dibujo de su fiel compañero BUDDY además de tener otro dibujo mío. Era un gran reto el encargo, mi primer dibujo de un perro, el canino había fallecido y no podía desilusionar a un antiguo estudiante y amigo.

After years without seeing one of my former students in person, Arley V. Raya was glad to see me still drawing. He had seen some of my works on social media and commissioned me to draw his dog. Although I had never drawn a dog before, I accepted because he asked me to portray him since the dog had passed away and he needed an artistic memory, not a photo or poster. He wanted a drawing of his loyal companion BUDDY, as well as another piece of mine. It was a great challenge — my first dog drawing, and since the canine had passed, I could not disappoint a former student and friend.

Al pasarme la foto BUDDY, comencé el encargo que terminaría en 4 días. Casi siempre, termino el dibujo días antes pero para evitar complicaciones por la anormal vida en Cuba y no pueda cumplir con la fecha de entrega, doy como fecha de entrega 4 días. Cumplir con el cliente es muy importante, la reputación es importante.

Upon receiving Buddy’s photo, I began the commission that would be finished in 4 days. I almost always complete the drawing earlier, but to avoid complications due to the abnormal life in Cuba and risk missing the delivery date, I set 4 days as the deadline. Fulfilling the client is very important — reputation matters.

Para realizar el dibujo utilicé:
Una hoja de papel de 21.5 cm x 28 cm, lápices HB, 4B y 8B, goma moldeable, servilleta de papel, pincel y una hoja de papel para evitar ensuciar la mano y evitar dañar el dibujo

To make the drawing I used:
A sheet of paper measuring 21.5 cm x 28 cm, HB, 4B, and 8B pencils, a kneaded eraser, a paper napkin, a brush and a sheet of paper to avoid staining my hand and damaging the drawing.


Paso a paso/ Step by step 🎨

Dibujé primero una cuadrícula bien clara para dibujar a Buddy y después lo dibujaría completamente con el pequeñito lápiz HB que me queda.

I first drew a clear grid to sketch Buddy and then I would complete the drawing entirely with the small HB pencil I had left.

Comencé a dibujar los diferentes valores tonales en Buddy con lápices HB y 4B. Casi siempre empiezo dibujando las zonas de tonos altos ( claros) y progresivamente voy dibujando los tonos medios hasta llegar a los tonos más bajos( oscuros)

I began shading Buddy with different tonal values using HB and 4B pencils. I almost always start with the lighter areas (high tones) and progressively move through the mid-tones until reaching the darkest ones (low tones).

En ésta etapa del dibujo utilicé lápices 4B y 8B aunque no quise oscurecer demasiado y empecé a hacerle los detalles de los pelos. En etapas anteriores solo me dediqué a dibujar los tonos de las áreas pero no entré a dibujar detalles.

In this stage of the drawing, I used 4B and 8B pencils, although I did not want to darken too much, and I began adding the details of the fur. In earlier stages, I only focused on shading the tonal areas without drawing details.

Ahora comienza mi indecisión de cómo hacer el fondo. El perro estaba en un jardín y no era mi intensión hacer un fondo realista o muy complejo. Lo más importante era Buddy y estaba casi listo.
Primero con el lápiz HB dibujé el fondo y con el pincel lo difuminé completamente.

Now begins my indecision about how to make the background. The dog was in a garden, and it was not my intention to create a realistic or very complex background. The most important thing was Buddy, and he was almost finished. First, with the HB pencil, I drew the background and then blended it completely with the brush.

Después dibujé algunas hojas alrededor de Buddy y posteriormente disfuminé con la servilleta de papel que me fue más cómodo que con el pincel.

Then I drew some leaves around Buddy and later blended them with a paper napkin, which was more comfortable for me than using the brush.

Más tarde, dibujé algunas zonas con tonos medios y decidí hacerle al fondo algunos efectos con la goma moldeable y retoqué un poco a Buddy con más líneas para sus pelos y tonos bajos. Para mí, era un fondo que me gustaba mucho y la obra estaba terminada.

Later, I shaded some areas with mid-tones and decided to add effects to the background using the kneaded eraser. I also retouched Buddy with more lines for his fur and darker tones. For me, it was a background I really liked and the artwork was finished.

Había consultado la opinión de mi madre y la del cliente y ambos coincidieron en dibujar un poco más el fondo. Comencé a dibujar hojas solamente con líneas y después le pasé la servilleta de papel😅

I had consulted both my mother’s opinion and the client’s, and they both agreed that I should draw a bit more of the background. I began sketching leaves only with lines and then blended them with a paper napkin 😅.

Aquí dibujé las hojas con tonos medios y me cogió el apagón en el proceso.

Here I drew the leaves with mid-tones, and the blackout caught me in the process.

Comencé a hacerle detalles a las hojas con tonos medios sin entrar en un dibujo realista. Prácticamente, un fondo con trazos de lápiz imitando manchas de color. También aproveché para hacerle tonos medios y bajos a Buddy con la goma moldeable.

I began adding details to the leaves with mid-tones without going into a realistic drawing. It was practically a background made of pencil strokes imitating color patches. I also took the opportunity to give Buddy mid and low tones using the kneaded eraser.

Al fin terminé. Muchas personas ven solo la obra terminada y no se imaginan el complicado proceso para realizarlas o los cambios y transformaciones que sufre la obra.

At last, I finished. Many people only see the completed artwork and cannot imagine the complicated process behind it, or the changes and transformations the piece undergoes.

Todo listo y espero que le guste el dibujo a mi amigo Arley V. Raya ( no le he mostrado el resultado final) Él no ha podido recoger el dibujo porque enfermó, espero que se recupere pronto y que el dibujo le recuerde por siempre a su amigo fiel BUDDY🙏

All set, and I hope my friend Arley V. Raya likes the drawing (I haven’t shown him the final result yet). He hasn’t been able to pick it up because he fell ill. I hope he recovers soon and that the drawing will forever remind him of his loyal friend Buddy 🙏.
