POEM: Surface Tension

In your shuffle, I knew you
until the dawn
of ancient oars
spilling gold on the lawn
told me the horizon was a whore
She told me, "I've dated
every star, planet, and every galaxy
and don't care about appearances
while my lovers' hearts were as cold
as white gasps in the night
I said, "I don't blame you
your bed is my screen
your lovers tint my dream fleet
and the deepest parts of me
sing through your ardor
like a knock on a door."
