Birthday cake is a cake served to someone on his birthday. Birthday cakes are usually decorated with a person's name and carry a welcome message. The candle equals the number of years a person has lived also placed on the cake. There is also a tradition to put an extra candle to bring good luck. Birthday cake is usually the most popular sponge and flavor in the cake is chocolate.

Beginning in ancient Roman times, when cakes were made with a round shape of flour, beans, yeast, and sweetened from honey. These cakes are served during special occasions, such as birthdays for example. In the early days of Europe, the word cake and bread were visually exchangeable, the only difference being that the cakes were sweeter while the bread did not.
