OH MY SOUL
Learn to love oh my soul
All that draws upon nature's adore
For all that was meant to be
Has confessed to first loving you.
Learn to accept oh my soul
Things as they come and go
For nothing is permanent
The the fleeting step of racing time.
Learn to speak to thyself oh my soul
So the universe will hear echoes of itself
Sounds that grace the earth
In the silence of one's reflection.
Learn to know oh my soul
That the earth has weathered storms and wars
Yet the greatest storms
Rages still inside of me
And you my soul never told me that
I would fight these wars on many fronts.
If Proverbs are the oil
With which words are eaten,
Poetry is the water used
To digest the eaten meal...
