Introducing myself...

Hey everyone,

I am a Neuroscience researcher and writer from Melbourne, Australia.

I came into this strange little universe, documenting and analysing dreams for the Harvard research psychiatrist, Allan Hobson. I've since gone on to collaborate with him, receive his wonderful mentorship, and have forged a strange little path of my own; taking his ideas further, and theoretically modelling the neurobiology of imagination and psychedelic hallucination. I'm hoping these ideas will get academic attention in years to come.

Asides from that, I write a lot, and I really, really enjoy it.

Why?

In summary, I suppose that the writer's trance is not enormously different from the dream state—both of which I understand quite well. It is not so much that I enjoy putting myself into the place for its own sake; nor that I am so curious that I have to analyse it externally. For me, they are two beautiful aspects of the same curious thing, and whether I am writing about creativity, or writing for the sake of writing, I find my deepest peace.

I've come here on suggestion of a very close friend, from the crypto world.

…Making a living at the bottom of the scientific ladder can be quite gruelling, and its probably worth seeing if I can monetise some of my writings; at least the more abstract and conceptual ideas, that haven't found a happy home in academic publishing, or are some years away from that stage. It would certainly make my transition to full time science writing much, much easier.
