Ecency points scam
The title of the post is strong, maybe too strong, but it's hard for me to find words that better describe what ecency does.
I decided to try their app for a change from Peakd and also check out the performance of @Ecency points. I didn't have enough to do anything, so I checked how I could buy them. Surprisingly, it turned out to be very simple and can be implemented even with my native currency (PLN).
So I bought 2800 points for 24 PLN.
I spent two services: promoting the post and strengthening the account on two services.
I don't judge the promoted post option because it's hard.
Although what Ecency does when it comes to boosting accounts with their points is absolutely scandalous.
First of all, you're buying a pig in a poke:
You have no idea how much delegation you'll get for those 1500 points, which is highly misleading to customers.

Secondly, the delegation I received was laughably low. If I convert those 1500 points to currency at the purchase price and then to Hive, I could have bought 58 Hive with that money. Instead, I only got 215 HP for a 7-day delegation!
Thirdly, there’s no visible complaint or appeal process on the website (or I simply couldn’t find it). There’s not even any contact option — no form, no email, nothing.
This is an extremely non-transparent and anti-consumer approach. I really hope they improve this quickly, because it doesn’t encourage people to use the platform at all...

Thanks for trying Ecency and for taking the time to share your experience - even when it's critical. We genuinely appreciate that. 🙏
A few clarifications that may help:
Delegation boost is not meant to equal buying Hive/HP
Ecency Points delegation is temporary delegation, not a purchase of permanent Hive Power.
So comparing:
Buying 58 HIVE (permanent ownership)
vs
215 HP delegation for 7 days (temporary utility)
isn't a 1:1 comparison.
The delegation boost is designed as:
Short-term voting power increase
Helping with posting/commenting visibility
Supporting newer or smaller accounts temporarily
Many users use it for short bursts of activity, not long-term power accumulation.
Delegation size varies based on system availability
Delegations come from a shared delegation pool, which means:
Demand fluctuates
Available delegation fluctuates depending on market conditions
Duration is fixed (7 days), but size may vary
You're absolutely right though - we should make this clearer before purchase. That's fair feedback and something we can improve. 👍
Transparency & expectations
We agree that showing estimated delegation ranges would help set expectations.
This is actually something we've discussed internally, and your feedback reinforces that it's important.
Contact / support
There is support, but you're right - it's not visible enough. You can reach us via:
In-app support (Settings -> Feedback)
Use internal chat: @ecency
Discord: https://discord.me/ecency
Email: [email protected]
We'll also improve visibility of these options - good call.
Re: 1. Of course, that's the problem. For that amount, you should offer a much higher delegation; at that price, it's terribly unprofitable. It currently doesn't even give a new account without HP even 0.001 of voting power...
Re: 2. I appreciate your openness, and if a specific amount can't be determined, at least a range of estimates; that's certainly possible. And if you're open to change, consider adding a choice not only for the duration but also for the boost strength. Sometimes someone might prefer a shorter but more intense boost.
Re: 3. I actually didn't think to look there.
Thank you for your kind reply.
You make very fair points...
The boost should feel meaningful, especially for newer accounts. If the delegation doesn't translate into noticeable voting power, the value can feel disappointing, and that's something we should improve.
I also really like your suggestion about offering shorter but stronger vs longer but lighter boosts - giving users that flexibility would definitely make the feature more useful. And agreed on showing estimated ranges - that would help set expectations much better.
Appreciate you taking the time to test and share constructive ideas - this kind of feedback is genuinely helpful. 🙏
