Help me please! Mining vs HODL

I am looking at buying a miner. I'm currently going to college and live on campus in an apartment. I do not have to pay for electricity. Would it be worth buying some gpus to set up a miner in my room? If so, what card would be the best to buy? I live in Minnesota so cooling is not an issue.

Is mining worth it? From what I watch on youtube, it looks pretty easy to set up. I'm just curious if it is worth mining or if I should just buy more coins and hold them. Please let me know what you think.
