Hello, Hive gardeners! 👨‍🌾 📷

“Drought” has been the word that has come up most often over the past three weeks in connection with agricultural crops around here. It’s true—my field was no exception—but with one small difference: I prepared (read: pumped) enough water for us to get through it, though it still left some consequences.

Strawberries—they're all dried up... but it's my own fault. Even though we had plenty of water, we didn't water everything, and here's the result.

Watermelons, two plants—although they’ve dried up now, we’ve already harvested them and come out ahead.

I watered them regularly and heavily—five liters of water per plant every other day—and two grew to be huge; we just ate the second one today—it lasted a whole week :)
Both were huge—one weighed over 13 kilograms, the other over 14 kilograms. I’ve actually already posted a few photos of the bigger one

Here’s the smaller one. I’m really proud of them because everyone kept telling me it wouldn’t amount to anything. I’m thinking about growing melons next year:)

Since I’m measuring, here’s the biggest and heaviest potato :)
There weren’t many, but the tubers averaged half a kilo. This is a later variety; we harvested the early variety—which was small—a month ago, as I described in my previous post;

There are quite a few tomatoes this year, and they’ve finally begun to ripen.

We picked a few; they’ll ripen in a crate, and we’ll cook most of them for sauce.

Surprisingly, most of the eggplants this year were white. They’re medium-sized.

And peppers. They changed color in just a couple of days.

We expected more beans, but there weren't as many as in previous years.

That's all for the beans. On the left are Borlotti beans, an Italian variety that's very common here, and on the right are Biserac beans, which originate from Montenegro.

We harvested this last Friday.
Now the weather has finally changed. It rained heavily over the weekend, and it’s supposed to rain tomorrow as well.
I hope that now that the soil has recovered, something else will grow.
