When Love Makes Us Forget Our Pride

I suppose in love you don’t try to score points. When you love someone you stop counting who sacrificed more, endured more, waited in vain. You don't want to win, since you know you've already won something of inestimable value by being there.

In a way, love deposes you of your ego. "We usually think twice before we show our feelings in case we look weak or foolish," he said. But those things don't seem to matter when the heart's in it. You know what? I'm not ashamed to say what I think or feel, miss someone, wait, or forgive them.

Love is not about losing myself totally for me too. It’s caring about another person so much that their pleasure begins to matter to me almost as much as my own.

That may be love’s beauty. It can make a smart person do stupid things. It can make a proud person say sorry. It can make a person that continuously protects their heart risk opening it up again.

I don't think true love needs to be calculated. If I have to keep account of what I gave and what I received, maybe I am not truly loving, I am counting.

And honestly if I ever lose a little of my pride to love someone truly, I don't think that is really a loss Sometimes the ability to love freely is one of the most lovely things we can have.
