I built a LBRY blockchain explorer

TL;DR: https://lbry.block.ng

I discovered LBRY about a week ago and found the concept to be very interesting. However, it's still in beta (at the time of writing), and I didn't find some of the tools for the ecosystem very user-friendly, especially the explorer at https://explorer.lbry.io. As a developer, this is perfectly understandable, as it takes time to build software and get things to an acceptable state.

However, I figured I would contribute by creating a LBRY blockchain explorer that's at least easy-to-use. Thankfully, I had some old code from a few years ago during the early days of crypto when I was trying to create a Litecoin blockchain explorer. I've spent about 4 days building the backend and frontend to a usable state, and it currently supports looking up the following information:

  • Block heights
  • Transactions
  • Addresses

That's not all, however. There is a claims system in LBRY which you can read all about at https://lbry.io/faq/claimtrie-implementation. The plan is to index claim information in the database and then make the information searchable by users. I am also working on speed optimisations in order to make the explorer snappy.

The alternative explorer is live at https://lbry.block.ng. It's still a work in progress, so you can report any issues or send feedback you may have to the email address in the footer.

If you've made it this far and you don't know how LBRY works, here's an introduction: https://lbry.io/what. You can join the LBRY beta today.

Thank you for reading. You can follow me @shockr if you liked my post and would like to read more about what I'm working on in cryptocurrency, and generally.

Cheers!
