STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 65, "Brighter"

Hey guys, I got my wife to start joining me for openmic! We make up half the band Smith House, maybe someday I'll reveal this blog to the whole band (it's still a secret, I want to surprise them with the earnings someday) and we'll start doing openmic all together. But for now, Brittany and I! I wrote this song a few years ago at the tail end of three years of travel. I was in Toronto CA, finally enrolled in University after avoiding it for years, but feeling exhausted and depressed and wondering why I was still so far from home. I realized that I got what I was going to get from being out on my own and on the road, and now my desire was to go home and lay down some roots. Regardless, I wasn't going to leave in the middle of a semester of school, so I wrote this song to compensate for my low feelings and try to draw myself up to a better place. Enjoy!
