Sealing the blue | Holozing fanart!

Hello guys!

Today I decided to make an artwork based on the new seal inspired holomon. I like this guy especially his whiskers. He is incredibly cute hehe. My idea is quite simple. I wanted to place him in his natural habitat just enjoying the view. I used a reference with a low angle camera pose on this one because i wanted to change the shape of the eyes based on that angle. I wanted to create a happy face so the eye shapes had to change for this. It was definitely a success. He looks super happy here.

Painting him was a piece of cake however the background was unplanned. You can see in my rough sketch that it was different compared to the final version. I decided to change that because it will severely impact the lighting on the holomon. I definitely didn't want the character to look dull in the dull light formed by the mountains on the left and right side. Instead of that i decided to draw them far away. This was tough because it's been a while since I painted mountains with some details xd. I didn't blur it too much too to create a nice depth effect between foreground, mid ground and background which is something I always forgot to do. This is how it turned out :)
