A gap is a term in technical analysis, which reflects a break between prices on a chart that occurs when the price of a cryptocurrency makes a sharp move up or down with no trading occurring in between.

There is a host of reasons as to why gaps appear. Most often, one might observe a gap in the futures market at the expiration date or on the graph of an asset with low liquidity.
