Downtown Middlebury Vermont

The Congregation Church in Middlebury, Vermont sits on a hill at the top of Main Street. A white church steeple rising up from the middle of town is a very iconic New England scene.

Middlebury actually has churches across from each other at the end of Main Street. The square steeple is St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

The town has hanging baskets with flowers out all summer. Its currently the Middlebury New Filmakers Festival info

Theres a lot of local businesses like Green Mountain Adventures.

Or these two Vermont stores - Cookie Love and the book store.

Vermont really likes independent and local shops.

Otter Creek runs through town. This is actually a bridge. There are falls where the mills used to be.

Here's the National Bank of Middlebury doing its best to look pretentious 😆

Another lovely day in Vermont as seen here in the blue skies.

I'll finish with another view of St. Stephen's. There is a nice courtyard on this side and park on the other side. Many community events happen here.

Thanks. Its our main destination for shopping and services. Being a college town, it offers a little more than other small towns of its size. A little bit of Vermont history... Vermont passed a law in 1970 that effectively kept out "big box" retailers until 1997 when the first Walmart big box was built. They snuck in a couple by skirting the law in 1995 and 1996 basically reducing the size of the stores and retrofitting existing buildings.
