Silver, copper, and gold

Now that was fun! Last night I was lucky enough to see the band Tuxedo live in Portland and they were SO MUCH FUN.

Mayer Hawthorne (left), Jake One (right) and Gavin Turek (center) absolutely killed it last night at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland.

They had a band of three guys from Seattle and I wish I knew their names as they were really good as well.

The Wonder Ballroom is located east of the Willamette river. It's an historic building built in 1914 with a capacity of about 700 people.

I got there about 20 minutes before the opening act, who happened to be Gavin Turek spinning a DJ set. It was fairly empty when I got there so I sauntered up the the front and ended up standing next to the guy in the white shirt in this photo.

I got into town around five and went to Powell's bookstore for a bit, as the show didn't start until eight. After wandering around the store for a bit I walked over the a Portland staple restaurant called the Screen Door. They serve southern style comfort food. I had the red beans and rice with fried chicken and a piece of cornbread. Delicious!

It took a bit for the food but I was not in a hurry, so I took a photo of some precious metal I had on me.

I left that copper round tucked away in the little caddy that was on my table. The Goldback is the one I am keeping in my wallet. It has a couple creases but other than that it still shines bright :D

The security guy at the show saw my silver coin in the little basket when I emptied my pockets and asked me about it, so I got to talk about silver for a minute.

Happy hump day :D
