SERMs

Hi everyone,how are you all? Hive still below $1 i don't know when will it crosses it.i want to tell about SERMs. SERMs are selective estrogen receptor modulators i.e., that can have both agonist as well as antagonistic action on different tissues.

Tamoxifene and raloxifene are two SERMs.

Both have agonistic action on lipid profile,clotting factors and bone.so they can be used in osteoporosis mainly raloxifene.

Antagonistic action on ER+ve breast cancer.Tamoxifene used for treatment and raloxifene used as prophylaxis.

On uterine endometrium,tamoxifene has agonistic action so it causes endometrial cancer but raloxifene has antagonistic action so it causes got flushes as side effect.

Bazedoxifene+estrogen is FDA approved one and it has antagonistic action on endometrium and prevention of osteoprosis and hot flushes.
