The fabulous Tate modern brings us rare glimpses of the personal life of the pioneer of Cubism, Pablo Picasso.

Tate modern's first ever solo Picasso exhibit opened 3 days ago (March 9th, 2018) showcasing over 100 paintings, drawings and sculptures depicting events occurring over one pivotal year in Picasso’s life - 1932.

The exhibit, entitled Love, Fame, Tragedy tells the story of Picasso’s loves and losses over this year. The works of art are displayed month by month along with emotive quotes from Picasso.

'Essentially there is only love.
Whatever it may be'

Pablo Picasso

Throughout 1932, we learn about the struggles in Picasso’s personal life, as he balanced his life with wife Russian Ballerina Olga Khokhlova

and his passionate love affair with Marie-Therese.

We are hit by the erotic and sensual nature of the paintings, the bold lines and block primary colours reflect the artist’s feelings. Yellow represents the sun, red for passion and green for fertility.
