Beautiful Rainbow After Heavy Rain - by Sunscape
Thunderstorms and heavy rain rolled through two days this week. All of a sudden, the sun came out, and the rain was just a mist. I knew that there had to be a rainbow somewhere in the eastern sky. I ran out to the front of the house, and sure enough, it was a beauty.

The rain chains got a workout that day. Thank goodness it cleared up because that was the day two Monarchs hatched. At least they had a sunny afternoon to take flight in.
The patio blocks always flood when it rains that hard, and I like to capture the swirls from the raindrops.
Have you had downpours like this where you live? I have to admit this summer has had some real doozies.
At least I have not had to water the gardens too many times, lol. That saves a lot over the summer months.
The Limelight Hydrangea tree is holding up considering the rain.
I had two more beautiful Dahlia flowers open this week, but I think that might be it for this year.
Guess who I almost stepped on when I was picking zucchini in the garden. The female frog was all the way in the veggie garden from the pond. That was a first! She must have gotten tired of waiting on the rock for bugs to fly by.
That's it for today. I have to take Mika for her morning walk, as hubby's knee is giving him a rough time. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Well, that was an interesting garden visitor! I envy your summer rains. I lived in Minnesota for 15 years, and summers always included thunderstorms and rain. (And high humidity and mosquitos.) Here in Idaho, it's hot and dry for 2-3 months. Summer rain is a rare event. Last night we had about 15 drops at 3:30 a.m., just enough to stir up the layer of dust that has settled on the vehicles. I really like the photo of the rain on the patio.
Early on we had downpours like that, but for the last month it's been light steady rain. And that's what's on for last night and parts of today...
But that rainbow has to be the brightest one I've ever seen....
Oh boy! I've heard that your area of the country has had little rain. Do you like Idaho? It looks like a beautiful area to live. Your gardening must be somewhat limited with little water, then.
The rainbow was a beauty for sure. That rain was hard for most of the morning, then turned to mist. It poured so hard that the frogs hid in the rocks for cover.
Those flowers and the rainbow you managed to capture are very beautiful!

Now that was proper rain! And a cracking wee rainbow too. I just thought the frog came for a better view of the rainbow hehe, I loved all these pics today.

I grew up in SW Washington where it rained excessively. I have lived in western Montana, where the weather is similar to Idaho. Minnesota was completely different from all of those. I prefer Idaho and western Montana weather to the endless rain of the Columbia River Gorge, and to the extreme temperatures and high humidity of the Midwest. It's not perfect, but it is certainly beautiful. Unfortunately, many people moved here since 2020, to escape the tyrannical Covid policies and other left-wing influences in nearby states. It's now overcrowded, traffic is terrible, and housing developments are shrinking the prairies and forests. It's not the place it was 30 years ago. I sympathize with the folks who moved here to get away from the craziness elsewhere, but am also saddened by the changes they brought with them.
We have to water the garden every day most of the summer. We are part of a community water system, which was bought out a year or two ago by a large conglomerate with corporate offices far away. With no regard for the rural lifestyle enjoyed by most people in our community, the water rates were raised to the point where having a garden is nearly unaffordable, and raising livestock is more so. It's quite discouraging.
