Sabrimala: Celestial Lighting

Sabrimala Temple is a very popular andrevered temple situated in Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to LordAyyappan. Every year on 14th January during Makar Sankrati, a ratherunusual and strange phenomenon takes place here. A kind of celestial lightingis witnessed on a particular hilltop surrounding the temple. The Hindu devoteesbelieve that Lord Ayyappan asserts himself in the form of celestial lighting tobless his sincere devotees. However not all agree to this. Some people claim that the lighting is man made and is the result of forest-dwellers who light up a lamp during this auspicious day. This claim is debatable though and has no concrete evidence.
