It is the space agency of **Government Of India** headquartered in Bangalore established in 1969. The establishment of ISRO thus institutionalized space activities in India. It is managed by the Department of Space, which reports to the Prime Minister of India.

Achievements

• ISRO created history by launching 104 satellites successfully into the orbit on 15 Feb 2017.
• By replacing Russia’s 37 satellite launch of 2014 , ISRO created a world record.
• In 2016 ISRO creates India’s own satellite navigation system IRNSS
• Has a successful mission to Mars in 2014. This Mission named “Mission Mangalyan” at very low cost.
• In 2008 First Lunar Mission – Chandryaan, puts India in an elite club of 6 nations.

The Mars Orbiter Mission

Mars Orbiter Mission was the first time ever that any country successfully reached the Red Planet on the first attempt. That it was one of the more economically viable space missions anywhere in the world caught global attention.

The recent test of the crew module aboard the GSLV Mk3 put India in a special group of space fairing nations.
