Swing under lockdown

We have been quiet for a while, but then recent events have made playing as a duo impossible for most of the time. We have tried some on-line jamming tools that are supposed to overcome the latency by using loops, but they were not really satisfactory. We have been contributing individually to some on-line open mic sessions with our friends that help keep the spirits up and encourage us to practice.

Recently the UK government relaxed restrictions to that we could meet up with one friend at a time, whilst maintaining some physical distance. We took advantage of this to take our bikes and meet up in Letchworth. We found a bench on Norton Common and played a few tunes. This was really for our own enjoyment, but people passing by seemed to enjoy it. There has been a dearth of live music recently.

This video was put together by Danielle using recordings from our two cameras. She did a great job. I (@steevc) was using my old Dean guitar which is not as nice as my Taylor, but has a bag I can carry on my back on the bike.

This was from the week before when I just took my smallest uke. The audio balance is not ideal as clarinets are loud.

We really enjoyed our outdoor sessions. Latest update is that we can meet in groups of up to six from tomorrow. Still need to exercise care if anyone is particularly vulnerable. This may give us scope for bigger sessions with friends.

Stay tuned!
