Football Exchange Profit Potential: 11 Players to Watch in GW3
After a mixed start to the season, Gameweek 3 presents another opportunity to find value before the market fully catches up.
I sold Ndiaye, Ødegaard and Mosquera for a tidy profit after GW1 and decided to cut my losses on Andrey Santos who didn't get the game time I was expecting.
To replace them, I just brought in Lindelof whose value has absolutely tanked after Villa's difficult start to the season making him almost a risk free investment.
I'm still hesitant to fill the remaining spots in my midfield. There are some decent picks that I've highlighted below but I'm not fully sold on any of them just yet.
Meanwhile, I'll probably give the United defenders 1 more chance away at Everton before shifting elsewhere.
The frontline of Isak and Wissa are already delivering profit and remain in my longer term plans. Brobbey has been a disappointment so far and concerningly Isidor came off the bench to score for Sunderland at the weekend. I could decide to sell him and Tel ahead of the GW3 deadline.
For GW3, I've tried to focus on players who combine favourable fixtures, strong underlying potential and the possibility of profit if they deliver even an average points haul. Here are my tips for a squad this weekend that could put you into the green.
GK Kelleher (Brentford) - 44 MEDALS
A solid start for Brentford with 4 points from 2 games. They've had a fairly quiet summer and that seems to have benefitted them as they've hit the ground running.
A home game against a goal shy Sunderland offers a decent opportunity for a clean sheet bonus for the former Liverpool man.
DEF Egan (Hull) - 47 MEDALS
What a great start for Hull with 2 wins and 2 clean sheets!
Egan has already taken advantage of those defensive performances as well as picking up bonus and defcon points.
Hull face a Villa side still looking to organise itself following a traumatic summer of player departures. No points and no goals for the midlands club who also start their European campaign next week.
DEF Ajer (Brentford) - 42 MEDALS
Another Brentford defender. He missed out on the clean sheet bonus at Leeds but still picked up a def con point due a solid performance.
I guess there is a bit of a risk doubling up on Bees defenders but I think the odds on the clean sheet are worth the chance.
DEF Maatsen (Villa) - 15 MEDALS
There are a number of Villa defenders who are very cheap buys right now. Maatsen looks your best bet for an attacking return and at his current price any bonus points would immediately see you get a return on your investment.
MID Buendía (Villa) - 27 MEDALS
He's getting the game time and he's cheap.
Villa struggled early on last season too and then found their mojo. Buendia is just the type of player they need to get their campaign started.
MID Bobb (Fulham) - 23 MEDALS
There are a few former Man City midfielders floating around that might be worth a punt but Oscar Bobb is probably the best opportunity for a low risk return.
The advantage - he's started both matches
The disadvantage - he's been subbed off in both around the 67min mark
MID King (Fulham) - 32 MEDALS
King is another player who could offer excellent value. Whether through creativity, work rate or an eye for goal, he has the kind of profile that can generate returns without carrying a premium price tag.
Crystal Palace have conceded 6 goals already this season and do look far more open at the back than they have in previous years offering Fulham an opportunity to cash in.
MID Elanga (Newcastle) - 47 MEDALS
Apparently Eddie Howe pushed really hard to get Elanga to the club last summer only for him to be a massive flop in his first season. It's somewhat ironic then that as soon Howe leaves the Swedish winger finds his form!
A goal in both matches so far and it's clear that this Newcastle team is set-up to play to his strengths.
FWD Wissa (Newcastle) - 38 MEDALS
You could pretty much copy and paste the above regarding Elanga here for Wissa too.
What both of them appear to be benefitting from is finding some form in the World Cup and carrying that on into the new season. Will it continue against Bournemouth this weekend?
FWD Isak (Liverpool) - 40 MEDALS
Got his tally up and running last weekend despite being largely anonymous against Forest.
Liverpool look soft in the midfield and defence and so they're likely to need Isak and co to score plenty of goals to compete this season.
FWD Havertz (Arsenal) - 36 MEDALS
Appears to be the forward of choice at the moment for Arsenal having started and played all 90mins of both matches.
Rotation I'm sure will be a factor later in the season but with a big game against Chelsea, you'd imagine that Havertz will continue to lead the line.

Good moves. Personally, I'll wait a bit longer before making any changes. I haven't done very well so far, but I think I have a good team.
Ajer was on my radar and I wanted him in my fpl team and what did I do... Forgot haha

I snuck him in my FPL team right at the last minute. I had Mitchell of Palace for the weeks running up to it then I looked at some of their preseason performances and they looked awful at the back so I switched him out last minute and good job too after they conceded 6 in 2 games!
I'd say waiting until GW5 is absolutely fine. The pricing will become even more dynamic after that!
