Then and now

A while back @bozz and I were talking in comments and chat about some shots he had taken on visits to NYC a few years back and he sent me a few shots he had taken and I tried to get shots from close to the same angle, I have shared a few I had done and just remembered this morning that I still had a couple I had not shared and decided since who knows if or when I will visit NYC again I would share the last couple today.

Starting with Belvedere Castle in Central Park

Belvedere Castle is a folly in Central Park in Manhattan, New York City. And you may wonder what a folly is well her eis a descriptions found online In architecture, a folly is a building constructed primarily for decoration, but suggesting through its appearance some other purpose

It contains exhibit rooms and an observation deck, and since 1919, has also housed the official Central Park weather station.

Belvedere Castle was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1867–1869. An architectural hybrid of Gothic and Romanesque styles, Vaux's design called for a Manhattan schist and granite structure with a corner tower with a conical cap, with the existing lookout over parapet walls between them. Its name comes from belvedere, which means "beautiful view" in Italian.

And next up a shot of the United Nations headquarters Secretariat Building on First Ave, where I first worked on the 22nd Floor when I came to NYC many years ago
